Myocardium Outlining by Volume-of-Interest

Contouring is first performed on the average MYOCARDIUM images and the result shown in the image overlay. However, contouring of the individual gate images is immediately started. To avoid useless calculations, the process should be stopped with the button in the lower right corner, if the initial result is inappropriate. IN That case, markers should be defined for improving the result.

In the example below automatic contouring performs ok for the STRESS study (upper row) but cuts a part of the apex in the REST study (lower row).

After defining markers, a better result is calculated for REST.

After the Outline VOIs have been defined, the button becomes active. When it is selected the following tasks are performed:

• Calculation of the time-activity curves in the different myocardial sectors according to the segmentation model defined in the configuration.
• Calculation of the LV volume/time curve from the endocardial contour.
• Calculation of the various functional metrics values described in the next section.

Note: If complete data is available in the Rest and Stress rows, the above processing needs to be performed for both of them.
